Peggy and John Coyne have volunteered at the Berea Celtic Fest and Gathering since its beginning. Their Irish heritage demanded them to and we have happily acknowledged Peggy's and John's calling to serve the community they have decided to live in. Not only have they demonstrated their desire to volunteer on many levels, but many of us have also enjoyed the cooking, and we really appreciate their financial support as well.
Jeni Balcom of Cincinnati, OH is an important part of this puzzle. She is a co-founder of our little event and has graciously participated numerous times at the concerts, sessions, Boone Tavern brunch, and Union Church Celtic services with her Irish harp. Her connections in the Cincinnati area and beyond have helped us grow to what we are today. We thankful because she introduced her talented daughters Camille (dancer) and Simone (fiddler) to Berea Celtic Fest and Gathering.
It can't be a surprise to anyone that Turlach Boylan of Kansas City, KS one day would be the receiver of this award. Since the beginning in 2009, he has only missed one event. His impact as a musician (flute, tin whistle, banjo, mandolin, etc) is significant, and his importance as a friend and regular participant is even larger.
Turlach hails from Belfast, Northern Ireland and he takes great pride in performing tunes from there, always accompanied by some facts and some humorous storytelling.
Chiropractic Health Solutions' owner and founder, Dr. Brenda Huser, has over the years shown her significant support to our event and has been a valued partner for all the years. It is because of Brenda and similar partners that we can continue our event so successfully. Brenda has also served as president for the Berea Chamber of Commerce.
Ellen and Dan Curtin of Fort Thomas, KY have over and over again shown their commitment to Berea Celtic Fest and Gathering. Dan has participated enthusiastically in many, many sessions, and Ellen is always ready to lend a hand, especailly at our community supper before the gala concert. What has become a tradition and almost a ritual is that they donate a bunch of franks to great satisfaction for many hungry souls.
