The Berea Celtic Fest and Gathering is an annual event in Central Kentucky that focuses on "traditional, authentic and grassroots music of the Irish and Celtic traditions". Bringing musicians together from near and far has a high priority, so they can meet, inspire one another and build valuable relations. We are a small, low-budget gathering in a comparatively low-income area and are more interested in the well-being and quality of the music than the size of the event. The Folk Circle Association of Berea is the presenter.

The Berea Celtic Fest and Gathering takes place every year on the third weekend of August. We began in 2009.

The Berea Celtic Fest and Gathering is a city-wide event with several locations for workshops, presentations, concerts and sessions.  Typically, we use Russel Acton Folk Center, The Taleless Dog, Cowan Chapel, The Kentucky Artisan Center, Union Church, The Top Drawer Gallery, and Hotel Boone Tavern and Garden.

We want it to free for musicians to participate in Berea Celtic Fest and Gathering.  Especially in the many sessions, where friendships are created and inspirations are offered from a bunch of very skillful peers. As a musician you're also invited to a free buffet Saturday night. 

Our Gathering has a very low budget in a very low income area in Kentucky, which does not leave much wriggle room for many expenses.  We are happy, if we can break even. Musicians and singers, who perform at a concert, do a scheduled presentation and/or lead a workshop will be reimbursed with a travel stipend, some meals and potentially homestays. 

If musicians, who are signed up for something at our gathering, get a gig somewhere else, we totally understand and wish them good luck. No hard feelings.
